Thank you for choosing Butterfly Aesthetics for your Sculptra treatment. To ensure optimal results and reduce any side effects, please follow the aftercare instructions outlined below:
### Immediate Post-Treatment Care
1. **Massage the Treated Area**: It is recommended to massage the treated area for five minutes at a time, five times a day, for five days post-treatment. This helps to distribute the product evenly and ensure a natural look.
2. **Ice Application**: Apply a clean ice pack or cool compress to the treated areas for 15-20 minutes every hour for the first 24 hours. This helps minimize swelling and discomfort. Wrap ice in a cloth to prevent direct contact with the skin.
3. **Avoid Alcohol and Medications**: Do not consume alcohol or take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like aspirin or ibuprofen for at least 24 hours, as these can increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
### General Instructions
4. **Avoid Strenuous Activities**: Refrain from any vigorous exercise, heavy lifting, or activities that could potentially cause sweating for at least 24 hours.
5. **Sun Exposure**: Minimize sun and UV exposure. Use a high-SPF (30+) sunscreen to protect your skin, as UV rays can negatively affect the healing and results of the treatment.
6. **Hydration and Diet**: Maintain good hydration, aiming to drink at least eight glasses of water daily to enhance product effectiveness and support collagen production.
7. **Avoid Makeup and Skincare Products**: Do not apply makeup or any skincare products, apart from those recommended specifically by our team, for at least 24-48 hours post-treatment.
8. **Follow-up Treatments**: Sculptra requires a series of treatments to achieve the desired results. Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments as advised by your provider.
### Possible Side Effects
– Redness, tenderness, or swelling at the injection sites
– Small lumps under the skin; these are rare and typically resolve with massage
– Bruising
Notify our office immediately if you experience any of the following uncommon reactions:
– Persistent discomfort or severe pain
– Significant bruising or swelling lasting more than two weeks
– Symptoms of infection like fever or chills
